Sennheiser HD238 Headphones

With all the garbage available on the market, it is really hard for audiophiles to find something portable, simply made to improve the sound on iPhones, iPods, MP3 players, etc. Luckily there’s a company like Sennheiser that churns out superior products for all of life’s necessities. Whether a determined, snobby audiophile or a beginner wanting to branch out and experience higher quality sound pieces, the Senneheiser HD 238 headphones are an affordable set of phones that boost the sound from your portable music devices by about a bazillion (and that’s a lot of improvement!).

When I opened my box, I appreciated Sennheiser’s design. They have the padded headband and serious look of full size headphones, but they also have the sleek and compact size of portable phones. The ear pads are cushy and don’t leave that crushed feeling in your earlobes after a few hours of use; they’re perfectly comfortable. As far as sound is concerned, they really did boost the sound of the music on my computer, my iPod and my iPhone. It sounded clearer, crisper and richer, and the bass is deep and strong. No, it’s not the same effect as my expensive full-size, closed ear, surround sound, audiophile headphones, but expecting that from a $100 pair is setting yourself up for disappointment. You don’t need more than these for experiencing better music on the go. Be sure to give the Senns their traditional burn time before judging too harshly. Once you’ve worn them for a few days you’ll notice incredible, superior sound.

So what’s to complain about? Well, nothing really. For slightly over $100, these babies sound amazing for their intended purpose, and possibly better than most (or all) in this price range. Rock on.
