Sennheiser PXC300 Noise-Cancelling Headphones
Let me begin by saying that I am a huge fan of Sennheiser. Sennheiser is my favorite sound manufacturer, and thus I am biased to enjoy almost everything Sennheiser that comes my way. I also think a large part of that has to do with the fact that Sennheiser manufactures superior products for extraordinarily reasonable prices. Following in this tradition, the Sennheiser PXC300 Noise Cancelling Headphones do not disappoint.
I’m giddy about the size and appearance of the PXC300 headphones. They are full-sized, closed-ear headphones (which I prefer), but they are compact enough to look like regular portable headphones. An audiophile first and foremost, appearance takes a backseat to sound. However, if I can listen to outstanding sound without looking like a big-headed dork in public, I appreciate the extra effort. They are lightweight and comfortable, with squishy padding that sits snugly on my head.
Like all noise cancelling headphones they do best when blocking out lower frequencies. Do not expect to slip these on and be dead to the outside world, but you can certainly enjoy the privilege of “selective hearing.” No, the music sound quality is not comparable to your gagillian dollar pair of full-size headphones or your ridiculously expensive home surround sound stereo system, but it’s far superior to anything else that’s portable. They are definitely some of the best noise cancelling headphones for this superb price.
