“Aesthetically they are perfect. It doesn't get more classic than a black and pearl white finish and I don't feel like a robot while wearing them. The DJ1 Pro's are comparatively light weight, which is important when playing six hour sets or spending all day working on tracks. The bass response is firm and balanced, making on the road remixes as accurate as being at home in the studio. The highs are diamond clear and respond perfectly to EQ changes. I really appreciate Ultrasone's consideration of providing an extra set of ear pads and the replaceable cord is a wonderful addition, making it easy for me to upgrade the cabling if need be. Overall, the Ultrasone DJ1 Pro's are the best headphones available for DJs looking for the ultimate in sound quality, durability and precision. “

Let me preface this review by saying that I am a huge fan of Ultrasone headphones. They are solid headphones that last, they sound superb, whenever I see the price I think it’s a mistake because it’s so low, they use safe technology to protect your ears, they’re comfortable, and they have models befitting a huge variety of applications. The Ultrasone DJ1 headphones are an example of a specialty model.

They allow audio professionals an accurate impression of the sound because of their S-Logic surround sound technology. Because they make the music sound as if it’s playing all around you, you will know how it sounds to others. You would swear the artist is in the same room. Every last sound is clear, crisp, and accurate. So whether listening to music, mixing tunes, or recording an original track, you will hear every minute detail in the musical piece.

But the DJ1 headphones are more than just great sound. Created for DJs, those working in recording studios, and people in other professional audio settings, these headphones come equipped with all the bells and whistles audio professionals will enjoy. The headband is not as flexible as some other headphones in this class, but the cups feature a full swivel range to compensate, and the set breaks down for easy storage. They are a full size set of headphones covered in cushy, comfortable padding, but they do not look overly bulky (as far as full size headphones are concerned, anyway). Ultrasone seems to understand the wear and tear associated with professional headphones; they include an extra cord and ear pads with the phones - not that you will need either for quite awhile. These things could be trampled by wildebeasts and remain in tact (hey, Lion King sounds excellent on headphones. Circle of Life on these things? Rockin).
